City officials today announced that a civic organization has stepped up with a donation to cover outstanding costs leftover after the Labor Day parade in the fall.
According to a press release from Mayor Arthur Vigeant's office, he will be accepting a $3,000 donation from the Fratenal Order of Eagles Aerie 3565, which will cover outstanding costs.
?
Vigeant's Executive Secretary Patricia Bernard said the city funds the parade through donations that come in through the mayor's office, although the donations this year did not cover all the costs of the parade.
"I am extremely grateful that, through the generosity of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, we will be able to cover the outstanding costs from this year?s successful Labor Day Parade," Mayor Vigeant said in the release. "This only further validates what many in the city already know to be true about this organization ? they embody the true spirit of charity, kindness, and what it means to be a community."
Eagles Club President Steve Kerrigan said?in the release that, "We learned of an opportunity to help out and we thought it was the least we could do after playing such an honored role in last year?s parade."
